Radiohead- Wish You Were Here Feat. Sparklehorse (Pink Floyd Cover)

Pink Floyd knows how to make a point. This poignant classic always hits close to home. They perfectly capture an auditory sense of longing. Haven’t we all felt that? The intro definitely drags, but it’s totally worth it. PS blogging atcha from the Sundance Film Festival, dontcha wish you were here?

Radiohead- Paranoid Android

Let’s start the New Year off with a bang. This track is a classic and was named the best track of the last 15 years by NME in October. Though Yorke wrote this song about a terrifyingly materialistic evening of facade out in Hollywood, its three part structure can even narrate your break up. Anxious and tense in the beginning, this genius grows into a forceful tirade and finally culminates into a submission “raining down” into the oblivion, accepting the abyss of potential in a profound but not exultant manner (never never joyous with Radiohead).

No better start to your year, “kicking screaming Gucci little piggy.”

Radiohead- Bloom (Jamie xx Rework pt 3)

Because why would one remix from Jamie xx completely satisfy your itunes? We could definitely use some springing music while the winter months are cookingm and only snowflakes and fog are in bloom.

Radiohead-Bloom (Jamie xx Remix)

We can never get enough Remixxes from Jamie, but this is a special one in particular. Not only does the sound seem like something Thom Yorke would approve above, or even compose himself, but it’s just one remix of several tracks from The King Of Limbs remix album, TKOL RMX 1234567, which dropped today.  As if everyones favorite band Radiohead needed one more endeavor to set them over the edge of coolness, one mere attribute to place them above the most progressive of groups on the modern music scene, another shred of evidence to prove that they’re the most cutting edge in not only the contemporary release of downloaded music for a negotiable price, but also its shifting notions of ownership.

As if.

Radiohead- Don’t Give Up The Ghost

What a surprise!  Our favorite whiny British rockers are back with an album in a sort of whirlwind release.  So far this is the track that stood out the most, but we haven’t properly listened to the entire album yet.  As you’re surely aware the ideal way to take in a Radiohead album is in a painfully isolating setting where you can dwell in your musings on post-modern ennui- also a broken heart is useful.

But Don’t Give Up.

Scala Choir- Creep (Radiohead Cover)

To call this cover “creepy” is an understatement, but placing the eerie track into the newest trailer for The Social Network is creepily genius.  Perhaps it’s because this song was recorded before sites like Facebook even existed, and yet, still, years later adolescents- everyone, really- can still relate to profound moments of loneliness.

Did anyone else feel the compulsion to update their “About Me” after viewing this?

Maybe, I’m a creep.

What the hell am I doing here?

Louis Armstrong v.s Radiohead-What A Wonderful Surprise (Overdub Bootleg)

It really is.  A wonderful surprise, that is.  The “unlikely mash up” usually gets attention here at Lilwhy and this odd duo is no exception.

These two songs may seem like spots and stripes, but we’re still digging this vibe.

Radiohead- Climbing Up The Walls (Zero 7 Remix)

WOW.  We had a total Neo moment when we stumbled upon this madness!  One genius band being interpreted by another brilliant one.  Stop it.  Cheers, Zero 7 remixing Radiohead is asking for critique.  Way to add the chill factor to a wonderfully intense track.

This one rocks.

Dave Brubeck v.s Radiohead- 5 Step

Woh.

Seriously beginning to understand what Neo/Keanu meant by that concise phrase.

After getting used to the dissonance and detachment of Girl Talk, we thought we were pretty jaded, but stumbling upon this mash-up was pretty shocking.  This unlikely combination of the jazz great and legendary alternative rock group works in some crazy way.  Combining the time signatures for this song probably ushered in a new era of arithmetic (Radiohead did suggest 2+2=5, perhaps now they can prove this).

We recommend taking five (or fifteen) after listening.
